"GOOD NEWS"

The 'good news' of Jesus Christ is the gospel message that Jesus did what we cannot do - He died as a substitute in our place to make atonement for our sins and put all who believe or trust in Him into a right relationship with God. His resurrection is the 'seal' or assurance of all He did on Calvary and was certainly 'good news' to the frightened and unbelieving disciples who were 'slow to believe' all that was taught about this both in the Old Testament and by Jesus Himself, as well as to all believers since.

Romans 1:16 (King James Version)

16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

John 3:16 is possibly amongst the most quoted verses in the New Testament which summarizes the gospel message.

John 3:16 (King James Version)

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Paul, in giving an early Christian creed, probably given to him in his early days as a Christian, provides another summary of gospel truth.
1 Corinthians 15:1-7 (King James Version)
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
